1 million baby turtles protected and released into the sea

Another great milestone! 1 million baby turtles protected and released into the sea by the Sea Turtle Monitoring Program.
There are 7 species of sea turtles in the world and 2 of them are found in the region of Porto do Açu, between Campos dos Goytacazes and São João da Barra, Rio de Janeiro. In the months of September to March, the breeding period of Caretta Caretta, the Tartaruga Cabeçuda, takes place.

To contribute to the population’s awareness of the preservation of this species, the Sea Turtle Monitoring Program (PMTM), together with Açu Petróleo, Porto do Açu and Ferroport, carry out a release campaign, when volunteers can participate in the release of young to the sea .

To date, more than 14,000 nests have been registered, more than 1 million nestlings have been protected and released into the sea, and more than 50 employees have been involved in the past year.

This time, the moment of release requires new care, so it was done with a small number of participants. Our goal is to protect the environment and life. We hope to soon be able to count on the public to learn even more about the richness of marine life.

1 milhão de filhotes de tartarugas protegidos e liberados ao mar

Mais um grande marco! 1 milhão de filhotes de tartarugas protegidos e liberados ao mar pelo Programa de Monitoramento de Tartarugas Marinhas.

Existem no mundo 7 espécies de tartarugas marinhas e 2 delas sao encontradas na região do Porto do Açu, entre Campos dos Goytacazes e São João da Barra, Rio de Janeiro. Nos meses de setembro a março, acontece o período de reprodução da Caretta Caretta, a Tartaruga Cabeçuda.

Para contribuir na conscientização da população sobre a preservação dessa espécie, o Programa de Monitormento de Tartarugas Marinhas (PMTM), junto com a Açu Petróleo, Porto do Açu e Ferroport, realizam campanha de soltura, quando voluntários podem participar da liberação de filhotes ao mar.

Até hoje foram mais de 14 mil ninhos registrados, mais de 1 milhão de filhotes protegidos e liberados ao mar e mais de 50 colaboradores envolvidos só no último ano.

Dessa vez, o momento de soltura exige novos cuidados, por isso, foi feito com um número reduzido de participantes. Nosso objetivo é proteger o meio ambiente e a vida. Esperamos em breve poder contar com o público para conhecer ainda mais sobre a riqueza da vida marinha.

This initiative directly contributes to the identification and encouragement of ships with better sustainability performance, valuing the commitment to environmental preservation in the operations at our terminal.

As of January 1, 2021, Açu Petróleo will adopt the ESI. The ESI (Environmental Ship Index) is led by the WPSP (World Ports Sustainability Program) and used by more than 60 international ports.

A partir de 1º de Janeiro de 2021, a Açu Petróleo passa a adotar o ESI. O ESI (em português, Índice Ambiental de Navios) é liderado pelo WPSP (World Ports Sustainability Program) e utilizado por mais de 60 portos internacionais.

Essa iniciativa contribui diretamente para identificação e incentivo de navios com melhor performance em sustentabilidade, valorizando o compromisso com a preservação ambiental nas operações em nosso terminal.

Humanitarian Actions Committee contributes to the BNDES’ Saving Lives project

The Porto do Açu Humanitarian Actions Committee, formed by the companies Açu Petróleo, GNA, Ferroport and Porto do Açu Operações, together with BW and Siemens Foundation, donated four thousand reais to the “Saving Lives” crowdfunding project from BNDES (National Economic and Social Development Bank). The donation is an important aid to improving the infrastructure and quality of care provided by the city’s health system at that time.

More than ever, it’s time to join forces to fight the pandemic! We are proud to be part of this action!

Comitê de Ações Humanitárias contribui para o projeto Salvando Vidas, do BNDES

O Comitê de Ações Humanitárias do Porto do Açu, formado pelas empresas Açu Petróleo, GNA, Ferroport e Porto do Açu Operações, junto com a BW e Fundação Siemens, doou R$400 mil ao projeto de financiamento coletivo “Salvando Vidas”, do Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES). A doação é um importante auxílio para a melhoria da infraestrutura e da qualidade no atendimento do sistema de saúde do município nesse momento.

The Solidarity S/A board of Jornal Nacional (Rede Globo) highlighted the initiatives of the Porto do Açu Humanitarian Actions Committee, formed by the companies Porto do Açu, GNA – Gás Natural Açu, Ferroport and Açu Petróleo. There are more than R$ 3 million in donations for the communities of São João da Barra and Campos.

Açu Petróleo carried out three simultaneous oil transshipment operations

We had again the three berths in our Terminal occupied. However, this time, carrying out 3 simultaneous oil transshipment operations. In the North and Central berths, there were operations with VLCC, while in the South berth a Suezmax operation. This is undoubtedly a very important milestone for us! A robust infrastructure combined with availability for operations are fundamental factors in serving the petroleum export market. Açu Petróleo appreciates the trust of all our partners, who are also responsible for the success of these operations. Together we make it happen!

Açu Petróleo realiza três operações simultâneas de transbordo de petróleo

Mais uma vez estivemos com o três berços do nosso Terminal ocupados. Porém, dessa vez, realizando 3 operações simultâneas de transbordo de petróleo, tendo 6 navios atracados em nosso Terminal, no Porto do Açu. Nos berços Norte e Central, ocorreram operações com navios do tipo VLCC, enquanto no berço Sul uma operação de Suezmax. Este é, sem dúvida, um marco muito importante para nós! Uma infraestrutura robusta aliada com a disponibilidade para operações de transbordo são fatores fundamentais para o atendimento ao mercado de exportação de petróleo.
