Forest Protection Day

Today, on July 17th, we celebrate Forests Protection Day, a date that aims to raise awareness about the preservation of this vital ecosystem for the planet and the quality of life of human beings.

And at Vast, as part of our commitment to Biodiversity established in our sustainability policy, this is always a topic on our minds! An example of this is the reforestation of 439 hectares that we completed in 2021 in the Caruara Reserve, a location that plays an important role in preserving the biodiversity of the region where we operate.

The work and dedication invested in this action even earned Vast the issuance of the Partial Clearance Certificate by the State Institute of Environment of Rio de Janeiro (INEA), referring to 116.56 hectares of the 439 restored by the company.

We remain committed to maintaining and subsequently clearing the remaining planted areas, reinforcing our commitment to an increasingly harmonious relationship with the environment.

Vast and Petrobras sign new contract

July started with another major achievement for Vast: on July 3rd, our company signed a new contract with Petrobras!

The agreement entails an additional 3 years of providing oil transshipment services at our Terminal in Porto do Açu, reinforcing the longstanding history and partnership we have built with Petrobras since 2019.

This accomplishment not only shows our operational excellence but also reflects the market’s confidence in Vast, as we are already responsible for handling over 30% of all Brazilian oil exports.

This achievement is a direct result of our team’s dedication and our focus on operational safety and environmental responsibility.

We continue to expand horizons for energy.

Vast e Petrobras assinam novo acordo comercial

Vast at the ESG Energy Forum

This week, Vast participated in the 1st edition of the ESG Energy Forum! The event, organized by IBP – Instituto Brasileiro de Petróleo e Gás, represents advancements in sustainability discussions for the oil, gas, and energy industry in Brazil.

Our General Manager of Sustainability and QSMS, Adriano Truffi Lima, took part in the panel “Environmental Protection of the Brazilian Oceans and Coastline,” a topic aligned with our biodiversity conservation practices, such as the Aves do Açu project, aimed at preserving marine and coastal birds, and our partnership with Sea Turtle Monitoring, which has already released 1.1 million hatchlings into the sea.

In addition to these topics, another aspect discussed in the panel with Adriano was the importance of safety in Vast’s operations, which are carried out in sheltered areas with an emergency response base installed at the terminal. Our participation in the Mutual Aid Plan (PAM) of Porto do Açu and the implementation of training and simulations involving authorities and the local community were other highlights of the debate.

Prominent industry figures participated in the discussion, which encompassed essential topics for a future with lower carbon emissions!

Vast participates in the Junho Verde Porto do Açu campaign

Vast has actively participated in the “Junho Verde Porto do Açu” campaign, carried out jointly by Vast and the other companies of the Prumo Group present at the Açu port complex.

The initiative, which focused on fighting plastic pollution, aimed to promote environmental awareness on the subject and put into practice various actions throughout the month.

Were held lectures, fairs, and even a beach clean up, action that brought together about 100 participants and promoted the cleaning of 1.5km of beach in the area near our terminal. In total, 200kg of waste were collected, including various materials such as light bulbs, plastics, glass, and styrofoam, which were then sorted and properly disposed of.

Vast takes pride in actively participating, alongside our partners, in initiatives like this that reinforce our commitment to environmental care.

Vast partners with Shell and Equinor in the Mar Atento project

Vast is pleased to announce its partnership with Shell and Equinor in the Mar Atento project! The initiative by these two O&G giants aims to empower fishing communities in responding to oil spills at sea, contributing to the preservation of marine and coastal environments.

The action was divided into two workshops, which trained a total of 120 individuals in São João da Barra (RJ) and São Francisco de Itabapoana (RJ). The “Coastal Protection” and “Beach Cleanup” courses provided guidance on equipment and emergency methods used by specialized companies in such situations, along with a unique module featuring maps of local fauna vulnerability and how to act in sighting cases.

Vast closely monitored the work developed and contributed by sharing knowledge and experience in safety measures and environmental protection.

For us, partnering with two of our largest clients in an important project for the local community and the environment is a great achievement! Thank you, Shell and Equinor, for the opportunity and trust.

We continue to open increasingly sustainable horizons for energy!
