The event was held between the 25th and 29th of November and had an intense program.
At the end of November, we held the Internal Week for the Prevention of Port Work Accidents (SIPATP), which featured a series of activities aimed at preventing accidents at work and occupational diseases.
During the closing ceremony, a employees recognition occured between workers from Açu Petróleo, Oiltanking and other companies. The initiative reinforces our commitment to safety, a intrinsic value in Porto do Açu.
Between 29th and 31st of October, the event is one of the largest oil and gas segment.
Açu Petróleo participated in one of the largest oil and gas fairs in the world, OTC Brasil. For the first time with an integrated stand, in partnership with Porto do Açu and GNA, we introduce our visitors to the oil, gas and energy hubs, such as all infrastructure and business opportunities at Açu.
At the SulAmérica Convention Center, we received hundreds of visitors and potential customers. In addition, we shown our interactive tool, where the public could browse and learn about the opportunities of the largest port-industry complex in Latin America.
During the three days, lectures in pocket format were also presented at the booth, with representatives of companies operating in Porto do Açu.
Açu Petróleo and Repsol signed a contract to carry out a single transhipment operation.
Açu Petróleo has just expanded its customer list. On October 25 and 26, the company carried out the first oil transshipment operation for Repsol, which signed a contract to carry out a single operation at the company’s oil terminal. With this operation, Açu Petróleo also reaches, for the first time, 4 different customers’ operations in the same month: Repsol, Shell, Galp and Petrobras.
About 1 million barrels were transshiped in this operation, carried out between a VLCC vessel, White Nova, and a shuttle vessel, Raquel Knusten. At the end of the operation, the VLCC left Açu half loaded.
The month of October had a positive balance for the Prumo Group company: 10 operations were carried out at the company’s terminal, which offers operational excellence for our customers.
Açu Petróleo was represented by Victor Bomfim at the forum on technical regulation of oil terminals.
The CEO of Açu Petróleo, Victor Bomfim, was one of the invited speakers for the forum on the technical regulation of oil terminals, during Rio Pipeline 2019, one of the biggest events in the pipeline segment. He spoke about future projects for the Oil Terminal in Porto do Açu.
Our oil hub was also presented at an interactive structure at the event, shared with GNA – Gás Natural Açu and Prumo. It was great opportunity to share the new Açu Petróleo project.
Açu Petróleo develops environmental and social awareness initiatives in the local community.
Açu Petróleo has been developing actions with the local Açu community to promote environmental and social awareness trough the workshop held in late September on the conservation of small cetaceans, such as dolphins, which the company promoted with students from schools in the Atafona region. In order to introduce cetacean and other fauna species which belongs to the region and their interaction with human activities, Açu Petróleo brought an activity that promoted, in a playful way, the construction of a large collaborative map. In addition to the map, the students also held a collaborative drawing workshop in order to fix the learned content and bring their perspective about the theme. 74 students attented to this event, 29 from E.M Dionélia Gonçalves dos Santos and 45 from E.M Amália Soares de Almeida, both located in Atafona.
This milestone shows our costumers’ confidence in Açu Petróleo’s operations.
This week, Açu Petróleo completed the 100th oil transshipment operation at its Terminal located in Porto do Açu. The 100th operation was carried out for the client Petrobras, among the VLCC vessel Miracle Hope and the Suezmax Rio 2016. T-OIL reached the impressive mark of 100 million barrels exported since the beginning of the terminal’s operations, in August 2016.
“Achieving the 100th operation proves that we operate a terminal that offers operational excellence and safety in the operations carried out. The fact that we have doubled the number of transshipments carried out in one year, reaffirms the commitment of all Açu Petróleo employees to build a legacy of efficiency for T-OIL”, comments Commercial Director Eduardo Goulart.
This milestone reinforces the operational excellence of T-OIL, the only private Brazilian terminal capable of receiving VLCC vessels, one of the largest class in the world. With high level technology, Açu Petróleo has a client portfolio that includes companies such as Petrobras, Shell, Equinor and Galp.
With operations scheduled until 2023, the contract renovation reinforces operational excellence of the terminal.
Açu Petróleo (joint venture between Prumo Logística and Oiltanking) and Petrogal reaffirmed their partnership and renewed the contract for oil transfer at the Terminal in Porto do Açu, in São João da Barra (RJ) until 2023. With the new contract, Petrogal, which has performing oil transshipments in the terminal since 2017, will double the number of export operations at T-Oil up to 130 million barrels to be transferred through the terminal in the period.
For Victor Snabaitis Bomfim, CEO of Açu Petróleo, the renewal of the contract with Petrogal reaffirms the company’s differentials. “This partnership is very important for Açu Petróleo, as it increasingly encourages us to maintain our commitment to operational excellence and non-negotiable respect for the environment. Petrogal was the first company to operate VLCC vessels at our terminal. I am sure that this commitment, predictability and security that we offer in our operations, were key factors for this renewal ”.
“Petrogal is the third largest producer of oil and gas in Brazil and one of the world companies whose production registers a faster growth”, declared Miguel Pereira, CEO of Petrogal. “Brazil is our main development base and this requires reliable infrastructures, properly equipped in technological and environmental terms,”.
In operation since 2016, Açu Petróleo’s Petroleum Terminal (T-OIL) is 25 meters deep, has three berths and licensed capacity to deal with 1.2 million barrels of oil transfered per day. Since the beginning of operations, the terminal has carried out more than 95 transshipments. As it is the only private company in the country capable of receiving VLCC vessels, which has a storage capacity of up to 2 million barrels of crude oil. Circa 40% of transshipment operations are exported via VLCC vessels. “For this year, we expect to increase our operations, and double the volume transshiped in 2018. Also, we are developing a project for onshore tanking, which, in addition to providing an optimization in the oil handling logistics for our customers, will be able to offer new services, such as storage, dewatering and blending”, highlighted Bomfim. Petrobras, Shell and Equinor are also customers of Açu Petróleo.
Açu Petróleo reaches another milestone: the 3 berths of the Terminal occupied simultaneously.
After 3 years of operations at the Açu Port Complex, Açu Petróleo has reached another milestone: the 3 berths of the terminal, where oil transhipments are made, were occupied simultaneously with a Petrobras’ VLCC vessel in the north berth, and two other Shell’s vessels being operated in the central berth and south. This milestone proves the operational excellence of Açu Petróleo, which has high-level technology to carry out oil transshipment operations, furthermore, is the only Brazilian private terminal capable of receiving VLCC vessels, one of the largest vessel’s class in the world.
Operation is the first performed by the oil company in a non-owned terminal.
The Petroleum Terminal (T-OIL) of Açu Petróleo (a joint venture between Prumo Logística and Oiltanking), located in the Complex of Port of Açu, in north of Rio de Janeiro, held – on the 24th and 25th of May – the first Petrobras transhipment operation through a Suezmax vessel, with the mooring of the vessels Henrique Dias (exporter) and Brasil 2014 (reliever). The operation refers to the contract signed with the state company this year, on March, and has initial duration of 2 years.
“Until today, Petrobras has been operating in Brazil only at its own terminals, in Angra dos Reis (Rio de Janeiro) and São Sebastião (São Paulo), for oil exports. We are the first private terminal in the country to carry out operations for the oil company and this is a good reason to be proud of. Our differentials, such as the strategic location, close to Santos and Campos basins, capacity to receive VLCC vessels and transhipment in a sheltered area, were decisive in establishing this new and promising partnership, “said Victor Snabaitis Bomfim, CEO of Açu Petróleo.
In the “Market access for Brazilian supply” panel, Açu Petróleo’s CEO, Victor Bomfim, talked about oil industry’s challenges and the required investments to deal with the expected production growth.
Açu Petróleo, a partnership between Prumo Logística and the German company Oiltanking, was one of the participants in the Argus Rio Crude Oil Conference in Rio de Janeiro. The 6th edition has received about 100 executives from the oil and gas industry to discuss the challenges of the sector, based on the increasement oil production forecast for the next years.
In the “Market access for Brazilian supply” panel, the Açu Petróleo’s CEO, Victor Bomfim, talked about the challenges of the sector and the required investments to deal with the expected production growth. “Brazil has a huge logistical challenge for the next 5 years, with the prospect of increasing Brazilian exports to around 2 million barrels of oil per day, practically twice what is exported today,” said the executive. To deal with this demand, Bomfim highlighted the importance of investments in storage. “With the increase in exports, it will be necessary to expand the country’s storage assets, providing exports with vessels of greater capacity. At Açu Petróleo, we are working on the development of an onshore tanking park, with a capacity of around 5 million barrels, which will enable the optimization of the entire oil export logistics chain for our customers, in addition to offering additional services such as dewatering and blending, ”he said. The beggining of storage park’ operations is scheduled for the end of 2022.
At the meeting, the executive also highlighted the main characteristics of Açu Petróleo terminal, and the transshipment’s forecast for 2019. “Since the terminal started operating in 2016, we have already carried out more than 75 oil transshipment operations, 12 with VLCC vessels, which have a storage capacity of up to 2 million barrels of crude oil. For this year, we expect to double this number ”.
The Açu Petróleo terminal has a 25 meters deep channel access and is the only private terminal in Brazil able to receive VLCCs vessels. The oil transhipment is carried out by Oiltanking (a world-class operator), in an area sheltered by breakwaters and surrounded by containment barriers, which enables a reliable and safe operation, with efficiency and smaller final cost for customers. With a modern infrastructure, the terminal has capacity and is licensed to handle up to 1.2 million barrels of oil per day.
