SOCIAL ACTION
With a view to developing companies and communities around us, as well as maintaining the social license to operate, we seek open and transparent dialogue, clearly and transparently communicating our business growth plans. Together with Grupo Prumo, we also work to hire local labor, with emphasis on the Employability Network.
Stimulus for open, and continuous and transparent dialogue
We establish a transparent relationship with the communities close to our terminal, contributing to their economic, social and environmental development. Since 2021, we have also maintained a Social Action Plan, within the scope of the Environmental Education and Social Communication Program, with frequent dialogues with the surrounding population and establishment of a strategy and monitoring of actions. A highlight is the ConversAções Project, a permanent channel for contributing to the improvement of dialogue and clear and transparent communication with strategic local stakeholders, in order to gain and maintain the trust of neighboring communities.
To guarantee health and promote well-being, we work through the Açu Port Humanitarian Actions Committee, conducted in partnership with Açu Port Operations, Ferroport and Gás Natural Açu, which was fundamental for the establishment of combat actions to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, we made available an independent and open channel for service and relationship, accessible through the number 0800 729 0810 – option 3 and operated in a shared structure with Açu Port Operations.
Training and hiring of local suppliers
We prioritize, whenever possible, the contracting of companies located around the Port of Açu, in order to promote regional development. We also work to contribute to the training and professionalization of local suppliers, in partnerships, such as those established with the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan), which included holding a workshop for the Development of Local Suppliers for the Port of Açu, with management and market tools aimed at micro and small companies in the cities of São João da Barra, Campos dos Goytacazes and Quissamã. We also plan to carry out business roundtables, in order to keep the registers of local suppliers updated in our system.
Enviromental education and social communication – training and trainingprogram for environmental multiplier agents
Inspired by the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we developed the Multiplying Agents project to train, among Terminal I employees, environmental education multipliers among co-workers and external audiences, such as families and communities. To this end, we encourage reflection on the relevance and responsibility of acting in a commitment to environmental conservation, providing socio-environmental information.
Program
In line with the National Action Plan for the Conservation of Small Cetaceans and Porpoises, we developed the De Olho no Mar Program. The action includes training on the identification and records of sighted cetaceans, such as estuarine dolphins, porpoises and humpback whales, and is anchored in our Environmental Education Plan.
